Amid the soft glow of the candle ushering in the Light of the Risen Christ – the time comes to welcome, confirm and bless those entering the Church. The Litany of the Saints tells the biblical and historical story of the Church.

I remember the night I was “confirmed and received my first Eucharist” – words that still remain – “be sealed with the gift Holy Spirit”, “Lord Have Mercy”, “…all you holy men and women pray for us”.

Peace of Christ be with you!

Happy Easter!

A few notes about the Church that I have pulled out of this full length episode from Catholicism: The Mystical Union of Christ and the Church – Episode 6

The Church is:
Christ’s mystical body – a Living breathing organism not a club from the Greek – Ekklesia
Ekklesia – Jesus calls us out from the world and into a community of love and purposeful mission – life of Christ!
1) One – unified under one Lord God,
2) Holy – bearer of grace and forgiveness of God – through broken vessels; people 2 Corinthians 4: 7-9
3) Catholic – universal, according to the whole, means by which God gathers the whole world to Himself
4) Apostolic – rooted in the apostles – who were formed and shaped by Jesus Christ and sent forth to be missionaries

No matter what we think about religion, Christianity, the Church or church itself – we must remember the ONE – the Holy one, who founded it, called the disciples (and us) out from the world and into His Holy church community to preach love and salvation and the means by which it has been sustained through the ages.

Through the power of the Holy Spirit may the mission of the Church continue.
